Join us for music, song, and conversation with legendary vocalist Thomasina Petrus on her career, life, and her play on the incomparable Billie Holliday. Minnesota Humanities Center CEO Kevin Lindsey will host the evening.

LAND ACKNOWLEDGMENT
The Minnesota Humanities Center recognizes and acknowledges the Indigenous people, Anishinaabe and Dakota, that have had the longest relationship to land and place that we all now call home – Minnesota. This land is and will always be Indigenous land. MHC recognizes the wisdom of our Indigenous ancestors who call upon us to treat the land as caretakers of the land of our children’s grandchildren.
We also recognize the contributions of our various ancestors who came to Minnesota and to the United States. We recognize those ancestors who came this place in search of a better life for themselves who once recognized as the other. We also recognize those ancestors who were brought against their will who gave us lessons of perseverance and resilience.
By offering this land acknowledgment, we affirm tribal sovereignty and the past work of all of our ancestors as we commit ourselves to the work of achieve a prosperous democracy in which all of us in society can pursue life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
